Core type test
Find which of five core types your birth chart follows.
The core type test reads your birth chart and tells you which of five core types it follows. A core type is the way a personality is organized. It covers which planets lead, how they connect and where the pressure points are. The test uses the same planet strength ratings as the rest of the site, and it is not live yet.
What is a core type?
A core type describes the structure of your chart rather than a list of traits. It looks at which planets are Strong, Harmonious, Weak or Afflicted, and how they relate to each other. In a Pyramid core, for example, one dominant motive sits at the top and the rest of the personality serves it. Other types arrange the planets in other ways.
How does the test work?
You enter the date, time and place of your birth, and the test does three things.
| Step | What happens | Where to learn more |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Rates every planet from Strong to Afflicted | Planet strength calculator |
| 2 | Looks at how the planets connect, including patterns and balance | Patterns, Element balance |
| 3 | Matches the structure to one of five core types | Core types |
The same calculation sits behind the birth chart calculator, so the results always agree.
How do I read my result?
Your result names a type and explains it in plain language. Use it in four steps.
- Read the type’s page. It covers typical signs, strengths and pitfalls.
- Check the leading planets. They show what drives the structure.
- Look at the weaker points. Weak and Afflicted planets show where the structure needs care.
- Compare with your shape. Your chart shape shows how the planets are spread, and the two often back each other up.
Is the test accurate?
A test like this is only as good as your birth data. A wrong birth time can change house positions and some ratings. If you are unsure of your time, the result is marked approximate. The core type is also a model, and every model simplifies. Take it as a prompt for reflection. Do not use it to make medical or major life decisions.
What should I do after getting my type?
Read the page for your type, then go deeper. The planets section explains each planet, and the birth chart calculator shows your full wheel. If you want a written analysis, see our reports.
Questions
Is the core type test a personality quiz?
No. It does not ask questions about you. It reads your birth chart and shows how its planets are organized, based on their strength and their relationships.
How many core types are there?
Five. Each has its own page with signs, strengths and pitfalls. You can start with the Pyramid core and browse the others from the core types section.
Why does my core type not feel right?
Check your birth time first, since it affects houses and some planet ratings. Remember that a core type describes structure, and your life experience adds a lot on top.
Can my core type change?
Your birth chart does not change, so your core type stays the same. How you express it can develop over time.
