Solar return
The chart of your birthday-to-birthday year.
A solar return is a chart cast for the moment the Sun comes back to its exact birth position each year. Astrologers read it as a symbolic map of the themes of the coming year. The guides here show you how to read it in plain steps. They describe themes and never predict events.
Where should I start?
- Learn the basics in how to read a solar return.
- Look up the Ascendant of your year in each of the twelve houses.
- If you do not yet know your birth chart, start with how to read a birth chart.
- Want it written for you? See Year Ahead, a reviewed solar return report.
All solar return readings need an accurate birth time. If you are unsure of yours, read what to do with an unknown birth time.
