Sun, Moon and Rising elements: all 64 combinations
How your Sun, Moon and Rising elements combine.
This section explains what your Sun, Moon and Rising elements mean together, across all 64 mixes of fire, earth, air and water. You learn whether your mix leans one way or blends, and how that shapes your core. The Sun shows what you are building toward. The Moon shows what you need to feel safe, and the Rising sign shows how you meet the world. Each sits in a sign, and each sign belongs to one of four elements.
The pages here explain what happens when those three elements meet.
How do the four elements work?
Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) run on energy and enthusiasm. Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) care about practical results and patient craft. Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) live in ideas and conversation. Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) lead with feeling and close bonds.
No element beats another. Each one covers something the others lack.
What does it mean when all three are the same element?
A chart with Sun, Moon and Rising in one element is one-sided in a clear way. It has a strong home language and may find the other three harder to speak. Such a chart is easy to describe and sometimes hard to balance. In our method, one dominant element often leans toward Pyramid or Circuit structures, while a strong air emphasis leans toward Linear or Mosaic ones. See the five core types.
What does it mean when the three elements differ?
A mixed combination means some inner translation. Your Sun may want one thing, your Moon may need another, and your Rising may present a third. You have more than one mode, and some days you need to pick which one to use.

How do I find my own combination?
Use the birth chart calculator with your birth date, place and exact time. It shows your three signs, and the signs give you the elements. Then open the matching page if we have it, or read the pages closest to it.
What should I keep in mind when reading a combination?
First, the elements describe tendencies. They do not fix your fate. Second, planet strength in your whole chart can change how a combination feels, so a strong Saturn or a stressed Moon will matter. Third, these pages are a starting point for self-reflection. They give no advice on health, money or legal matters.
To go further, read how the Pyramid, Linear, Circuit, Spiral and Mosaic types are built. Or start with how to read a birth chart.
How do elements relate to the five core types?
Elements are only one input into the core. A strong earth emphasis often supports a Pyramid or a Circuit. A strong air emphasis tends toward Linear or Mosaic. Fire and water do not point to a single type. Their effect depends on which planets are strong and how they connect, so two people with the same three elements can have different cores.
Why is the Rising sign part of the picture?
The Rising sign, also called the Ascendant, is the sign on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth. It shapes how others first see you and how you start new things. Many astrologers treat it as the doorway to the chart. With the Sun and Moon, it gives a fuller sketch than the Sun alone, so these pages use all three.
How should I read a mixed combination if my page is not written yet?
Read the page for each element and note where they agree and where they differ. Where they agree, the trait is likely strong. Where they differ, expect a trade-off. Ask which placement leads in a given moment, say at a work meeting or on a lazy Sunday. We add new combinations in batches.

Questions
How do I find the elements of my Sun, Moon and Rising?
Calculate your birth chart with date, place and time of birth. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are fire. Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are earth. Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are air. Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are water.
Why do I need my birth time?
The Rising sign, or Ascendant, changes about every two hours on average. Without a birth time you can still learn your Sun element, and often your Moon element, but not your Rising.
Why are there 64 combinations?
Each of the three placements has four possible elements, and four times four times four is 64. Many combinations repeat the same element two or three times, which makes a chart more one-sided.
Are the combinations the whole story?
No. They are a quick overview. Strong planets, houses, aspects and the architecture of the core all add to the picture, and they can change how a combination feels.
